The goals of Reach Out Iowa are to get young people ages 12-17 involved in meaningful community development work through service learning experiences. The projects will develop leadership skills in young people and be a way to showcase to communities the positive things that young people can do.
Youth and adults need to allow a minimum of 90 minutes of training for the orientation. Additional training modules are available free of charge; ISU Extension will work with you to identify a group specific training plan for your youth and adults.
Reach Out Iowa funding can be used to cover the direct costs of doing your service learning work. This includes supplies, transportation costs, journals, reflection tools, and staffing costs.
Currently funding is limited to a maximum of $20 per youth involved in the full service learning process.
There is an annual program fee of $30 to enroll in 4-H. This fee supports the county 4-H program. If you feel this fee would constitute an undue financial burden, financial aid is available through the 4-H Foundation. This enrollment fee is waived for children of military parents. The guidelines for financial aid along with the application form can be found on the link above. Note that the $30 fee does not directly support the Urbandale 4-H Club.
The Club members determined our annual dues of $10. A budget will also be set for booth and bale decoration at the Polk County Fair and may or may not be in addition to the club dues.
